This section covers a lot!

If you're thinking of coming, there's a lot you'll want to know about the house. You can find that here.

To get a feel for daily life as a guest at Little Bay House please see the Bay Life section.

And this link will take you directly to Reservation information.

Once you're a guest this page, along with a PDF I'll be sending you, serves as your house binder. It covers things such as supplies provided, how to log onto the wifi and what to do on check out day.

At the bottom you'll find an FAQ section.

THE HOME, 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths, one half bath and one outdoor shower, sleeps 12

Typically our 2,300 square foot home is set up to accommodate three families vacationing together. Since this year is anything but typical, I'll leave it at accommodates 12 with heaps of sleeping and living spaces for all. One side sleeps the kids and the other the adults – that’s how we do it. You do what works for you.

Three sets of twin bunks along with a half bath and outdoor shower accommodate the kiddos – or kiddos who are now adult sized! Can we say heavy duty bunks? Three additional bedrooms accommodate couples with queen beds fitted with Leesa mattresses and pillows (two share a full bath and one has its own). And a board game room with a deep queen Couchbed (yep, Couchbed, Google it) can be closed off. Each room has a white noise machine and blackout curtains.

Common spaces include the board game room, a screen porch that can be closed up and conditioned with the home’s central heating and air, dining room with a large farm table and cozy gas log fireplace, spacious den for watching tv – we provide you high speed internet, a Netflix account (you may sign into any of your streaming accounts through the TV) and Apple HomePod (this requires your own Apple account or you can stream audio with Bluetooth). The deck has lounging chairs and a picnic table. A charcoal grill sits just off the deck.

THE OUTDOORS

We have a long private beach that is our favorite place to be outside when we're here. Among tall pines just off the beach hang 3 double hammocks. A few Adirondack chairs, a picnic table and a swing are scattered among the trees. A large lawn on both the water side and woods side are great for games. And a deck with 4 more lounge chairs and a picnic table are just off the open porch, so you can catch the views from the sun or shade. A fire pit is provided and is great to use on the beach.

CHECKING IN

  • Check in is at 4:00 PM. If you need to come sooner most likely this can be arranged.

  • Closer to your arrival I will send you information about where to find the lockbox with key and, cell phone number and a PDF packet you may want to print out and bring along.

DURING YOUR STAY

  • Our house is on a septic system. It is very important not to flush anything but toilet paper.

  • You are welcome to use the fire pit and charcoal grill. Please DO NOT use these on the deck. Yard or beach only. Please be safe and restock as necessary.

  • The Bay is not like the ocean. Gentle waves do not tumble glass smooth. Glass and metal debris come ashore in sharp pieces. For your safety please wear water shoes.

  • You are welcome to use the kayaks and SUP. Please DO NOT use other boats, and please be careful of the inflatable dinghy. It can puncture easily.

  • Our area does not have trash service. We like to wait until we’re on our way out and take all our trash and recycling at once to one of the following collection centers. Take all kitchen trash and recycling – including what you have in the outside cans. You do not need to take bathroom trash. Please note, the blue recycling bags are recyclable and can go directly into the “mixed use” recycling bins at the disposal centers.

  • Please text, email or call if you need me during your stay.

FAQs
  • I am concerned about COVID-19, is your house safe?"
We are taking precautions against Covid-19. We offer: • Bleach cleaning between each family. Cleaners wear masks and gloves and do not clean for 14 days if they have traveled outside of the area. • The option to check in up to 2 days after the previous week's guest has checked out while only paying for the nights you stay. • Plenty of desk spaces and high speed internet for working from the house.
  • What is your cleaning procedure?
Our cleaning service follows strict protocols. Cynthia and her team clean with bleach products while wearing masks and gloves. They are given ample time between guests so they do not need to rush. If any member of her team has traveled they must self quarantine for 14 days before they may return to cleaning our home.
  • There will be a lot of showering, will we run out of hot water?"
No, our house has an endless water heater. Enjoy!
  • Please tell me about the mosquito situation on your property.
You may have noticed there is an area nearby called Mosquito Point, so I understand your concern! We have our entire property treated for mosquitos and ticks once a month. You're welcome to contact us during your stay if we need a retreatment sooner.
  • Can I have houskeeping more than once during my stay?
Sure. Just let us know and we'll arrange for the housekeeper to come at any point in your stay. The additional fee will be added to your cleaning charge.
  • Can I bring my boat or jetski?
A small boat or jetski for sure! If you have a larger craft and are looking for a marina, we have two close by. Windmill Point Marina is 6 minutes away and Rappahannock River Yacht Club is 12 minutes away.
  • I'd like to bring my pet?
I'm sorry, but we do not allow guests to bring pets.
  • Is the house on well water?
No, we have public water supplied by the town of White Stone. We are very used to the taste of the water, but some guests have found they do prefer bottled water.
  • May I smoke in the house?
    This is a non-smoking propety.
